Candle Making Basics


Candle -making is far from basic! It's everything from a relaxing pastime, an artistic skill, aromatherapy for the maker and a great aide business.


Making candles is fun but can also be hazardous if the appropriate precautions are not taken. Please be safe when making your candles and creating your blends of fragrances and essential oils.


What you will need:

× cotton or wooden wicks

× scale (g and oz)

× candle wax

× Melting pot (please do not use plastic)

× double boiler

× water

× candle container

× wick tabs or hot glue and glue gun

× wick clips


The Steps:


  1. bring water to a boil in a pot or

  2. measure your wax and place into wax melting pot/warmer

  3. place melting pot/warmer into the pot of boiling water to create a double boiler

  4. warm the wax to between 180°C to 190°C (do not exceed 200°C)

  5. once melted wax has reached the required temperature🌡, remove the melted from the double boiler

  6. allow the wax to cool down before adding your colorant and fragrance oils

  7. mix thoroughly until the wax is cool enough to pour into your containers (heat-resistant - do not use plastic containers)

  8. secure your wicks with a centering tool or popsicle stick until the wax has hardened

  9. allow your wax too cool and harden and then trim the wick


Allow your candle to cure for at least 48 hours before burning and enjoy!
